You saw how she and I were able to practically read the minds of her ideal prospects, creating a description of exactly what that person would be thinking, feeling, and experiencing. I want you to be able to have that level of insight and understanding for the people you want to attract to your membership. Invest the time right now to fill in that description, just as we did in the last chapter. First, decide if your right-fit member is gender specific.

Is your membership for men, women, or both? If both, do those members still have the same fears and feelings? Next, I want you to come up with a “This Is For You If You Can Say YES” statement. Pull out your notes from answering the questions in Chapter 6 and ask yourself, “Who is this membership really for?” This Is For You If You Can Say YES… Maybe you need to go back and re-read the case study.

Feel free to model Kris Murray’s framework. Just swipe it. I mean literally! Just swipe what she wrote and rewrite it, then craft it to make it your own. I never want you to start from a blank screen. That’s why I shared the case study with you first, so you can get this picture painted in your own mind. Now I’m asking you to paint this picture on paper.

I want you to write 5-6 statements that say: “You’re a right-fit member for my membership if you can say yes to most of these statements…” Pause for a moment and write down those statements. Here’s How You’ll Use This… Now let me tell you how you will leverage those statements to get more prospects, memberships, and sales. First off, you will be able to write your emails, your sales page, your sales letter, your postcards, and direct mails…

everything, right to that person. You will know them so well that when it comes time to write an email, you’ll be able to pull out this painted picture and write your email directly to your avatar as if they were a real person you’ve known for a very long time, because you know them on a deeper level.

You will be able to speak directly to your own Growth Gabby, Freedom Felicia, or Empire Ellie. When you send a message, you’ll start by saying something like: “Hey Felicia, …” Next, you’ll just start writing out your message. And you’ll be able to craft it in such a way that it’s personalized. You’re going to be writing to their hurts, their wants, their needs, and their desired outcome.

One of the worst things you can say on your membership sales page is that “you’re going to get a membership site.” That’s not what anyone wants. That’s not what anyone needs. That’s definitely not someone’s desired outcome. Nobody joins a membership to get a membership site. Instead, they want to know, “What will that membership site provide for me?”
