Iced In: A Spicy MM Hockey Romance - Knotts, Holly book cover

Three months of wanting what he couldn’t have. “Please.” Jesse heard himself begging and didn’t care. “Sir, I need you.” “I know what you need.” Eli pushed in, one long slide that emptied Jesse’s lungs and filled him up at the same time. The stretch burned, that edge of too much that Jesse craved, his body opening around Eli’s cock, taking him deeper and deeper until Eli bottomed out with a groan. His hands gripped Jesse’s hips hard enough to bruise, fingers digging into the muscle right over the welts from the spanking, and then he was moving.

Deep strokes that left no room for thought. Jesse moaned and took it. Let himself disappear into the slap of skin and the ache in his wrists and Eli’s breath coming harsh behind him. This was what he came for. This was what kept him coming back, summer after summer, even when it hurt. Then Eli’s rhythm changed.

His hand slid up Jesse’s spine. Not gripping. Tracing. His palm moved over the knobs of vertebrae like he was learning them by touch, memorizing the shape of Jesse’s back, and then he was leaning down, his chest against Jesse’s shoulders, his weight warm and solid and close. “Jesse.” Barely a whisper, so quiet Jesse almost missed it beneath the sound of his own heartbeat.

Eli’s hips had slowed into something rolling and deep, almost tender. “Jess, I…” Jesse’s heart stopped. Eli never called him Jess. Not once in three years of this, not once in five years of friendship. It was always Jesse or Camacho or, during scenes, nothing at all. Jess was something else. Jess was soft.

Jess was the kind of thing you called someone you loved. “Eli?” Jesse turned his head, trying to see, trying to catch whatever was happening on Eli’s face. “What…” The weight vanished. Eli pulled back, and his hips snapped into that punishing rhythm again. Whatever had cracked open was gone, sealed shut so fast Jesse almost convinced himself he’d imagined it. Almost. “Focus,” Eli said, and whatever had cracked open in his voice was gone.

“You’re close.” He was. His body didn’t care about the whiplash in his chest, the desperate confusion, the ache of having something offered and yanked away.

Training camp had that particular energy it always did in September —the smell of fresh ice and nervous sweat, the hollow thwack of pucks hitting boards, blades carving patterns that wouldn’t matter until October. Everyone trying to prove they deserved to be here for another season. The veterans coasted through drills with the ease of men who’d already made the roster.

The rookies pushed too hard, desperate and obvious about it. And the new acquisitions, the trades and free agent signings, they moved through the facility like ghosts who hadn’t yet decided whether to haunt the place. Eli Kowalski was none of those things. He’d arrived from Minnesota a few days ago—.926 save percentage, Vezina whispers following him like a shadow—and in that time Jesse had learned exactly four things about him.
