Husband Who – Carin Hart

This feels right, too. I mean, I gasp as he grips the waistband of my leggings, pulling them—and my panties—down over my ass, but that’s more because the rain is a startling sensation against my skin than because he’s undressing me out in the open. At that very moment, if it turned out someone else decided to come for an evening stroll in the rain, I don’t think I would’ve told Dallas to stop. Considering how he’s working quickly to position me just the way he wants —on my knees, bent over the edge of the fountain, moving my knees enough to bare my entire pussy to him from behind—there isn’t a damn thing in this world that would stop my husband from fucking me and showing me that I belong to him.
That’s what this is about, I realize as he kissed my hair and tells me not to move. I doubted him so he brought me to a place that has meaning to us, and now that he has me here, he’s going to claim me the only way he can. With his— Based on how quickly he turned on like that, I have to say that I expected him to get me as naked as necessary, yank out his erection, and bury it deep inside of me with one full thrust.
I don’t know… maybe being here is bringing back some of my memories because I… yeah. We’ve done this before. Enough times that my body remembers it even though my mind doesn’t, and as I arch my back so that he can mount me, I squeal when it isn’t his dick that bumps up against my pussy, but his mouth.
“Dallas!” His fingers dig into my ass cheeks, holding me still. His forehead nudges my lower back. His nose nestles near my asshole, but before I can freak out and shove him away, he uses the flat of his tongue to run up and down the length of my pussy He groans again, the words, when he speaks, coming out muffled. I can understand him anyway.
“Jesus fucking Christ, Luce, you’re just as sweet as I remember.” He lowers his mouth to me again, sucking my clit into the heat of his mouth. I grunt, pushing back, looking for more. Normally, I think I’m definitely an oral girlie, but being out here, with the threat that someone could see us—and because I, too, want to banish Heather’s face from my memory, replacing it with the pleasure only Dallas can give me—I don’t need foreplay. I need— “I need…” Shit.

The third book in The Order of the Owed trilogy was both the hardest to write, and my favorite by the time it was done. From the moment Dallas appeared on page in Bloody Wedding, with his black spade tattoo and his determination to bring Loni home to Harmony Heights—and to Adrian—I couldn’t wait to delve into his backstory. We learned more about the reluctant King in Inconvenient Marriage, but now, at last, he gets his turn in the spotlight—even if the broken enforcer would rather stay in the shadows.
And Lucy… poor, sweet Lucy. She definitely deserves her HEA with Dallas! Husband Who includes: a secret society that has its own laws and plays outside of any rules; explicit sex scenes without any protection (and no pregnancy or scares); liberal use of the ‘my wife’ trope; dubcon; gaslighting; drugging; suicidal ideation; mentions of previous suicide and child abuse; guns; domestic violence/intimate partner violence/previous noncon (against the FMC, but not by the MMC); attempted murder; actual murder, on and off-page; torture (against an antagonist); slight orgasm denial; blood; playing fast and loose with medical conditions such as amnesia that requires the reader to suspend enough belief to accept that the FMC can fall out of a window, lose her memory, and still deep-down recognize that the MMC is the only man she’s ever loved, plus how quickly the hospital is to boot Lucy so that their romance can begin.
I do want to note, if you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide like Dallas does in this book, help is available. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
