Matt tried to read the acquisition proposals Krish, his CTO, had sent him before finally giving up. His morning run and workout did nothing to help clear his mind, and he wondered if he had misjudged Ollie’s feelings for him. His heart felt funny and he couldn’t catch his breath. After lunch, there was a key in the door and Matt stood expectantly as Finn emerged from the hallway. He sighed unhappily, his body sagging.

“Hey, babe,” Finn said softly, scanning Matt’s face. “Wanna talk about it?” He scratched his head in embarrassment. “I got jealous and behaved like an idiot.” Finn frowned. “You? What did you imagine you saw?” “Why do you assume I imagined something?” Matt asked irritatedly. Finn made a face. “Because Ollie isn’t like that, because Ollie loves you, and because he only has eyes for you.

Those are the top three reasons, but there are a million more.” “I thought I saw him give his number to a guy yesterday.” Finn opened her mouth and rolled her eyes. “He looked flirty, and gorgeous, and the guy was staring at him,” Matt added defensively. “Everybody stares at him, because he is gorgeous. They do it to you too!” She punched his bicep lightly with a laugh.

“You have nothing to worry about. Unless you said or did something stupid last night.” She tilted her head. “Did you?” Matt slid his glance away. “I don’t know. He’s not responding.” He looked back at Finn. “And, I don’t even know where my boyfriend lives.” Finn smiled. “I do.” Matt waited outside Ollie’s place for nearly an hour after ringing the bell and getting no answer. Finally, he saw Ollie come around the corner with his backpack slung over his left shoulder. Matt watched his step falter momentarily as their eyes met, before he continued walking with a guarded expression.

Matt smiled nervously; his stomach filled with uncertainty as Ollie stopped in front of him. “Hey. You still mad at me?” Matt asked quietly. “I should be,” Ollie scoffed. He looked over his shoulder at the door to his flat. “I have a football match in a bit. I need to get changed and eat something. Wanna come in for a minute?” Matt hesitated. “No one’s home, nor will they be.

You can stay in the living room if you’d like,” Ollie added derisively as he unlocked the door. Matt flinched at Ollie’s tone and followed him into a moderately tidy living area, with a large dining table and some worn-looking couches in front of a sliding glass door that opened onto a small garden with plastic chairs.

The kitchen sink was full of dirty dishes, with more on the surrounding counters and Matt fought a grimace.
