Is something going on? Can I not miss my siblings? You always want something. The girls are going out with Rori and her sister. There it is. Completely unrelated. I just miss you. You’re all dropping the girls off anyway, might as well stay. I put my phone down on my workbench and reached up to wipe a bead of sweat from my forehead. My studio was inevitably always hot, which usually led me to working in only gym shorts and a backward hat to keep my hair back while I work.

I was working on a set of end tables that were more metal work than anything else. The buyer requested I mold the legs into an abstract shape that had no beginning and no end. It was a challenge to make the piece look cohesive, as if it always existed this way, as opposed to being created. I loved a challenge. Live edge dining tables were how I got my business off the ground, but there were only so many times I could make a wood table with a glass inlay before I lost my mind.

Projects like this made me think, they made me work harder. A car horn beeped outside, so I cut my music and tossed my safety glasses onto the bench. Rori had driven to the airport directly from work to pick up her sister. She convinced Henry to trade weekends with her for later in the month, so she was completely off for three days—something that rarely happened so close back to back.

I walked through the open studio door and saw Rori and her sister standing in front of her little Honda. Olivia’s jaw was hanging open and her eyes were bugging out of her head as she pushed her sunglasses from the bridge of her nose into her blonde hair. “Bitch,” she said, looking at her sister causing Rori to laugh. She turned to me as I approached. “Bitch,” she said again, more accusing this time. She spun to face her sister and popped her hip, placing her hand there.

“You failed to mention he looks like that.” She emphasized her last word as she flicked one finger up and down my body. I barked out a laugh as Rori rolled her eyes. “Their whole family is somehow stupid hot,” she muttered, not meeting my eyes. “What makes someone stupid hot?”

Same, but we’ll get through it together. 1kitap1.com/en dear reader Dear Reader, We meet again. This book was difficult for me to write. It was the first time I really tried to not only write about a sensitive topic, but one that brought up painful memories for me. While I didn’t live Rori’s story, I am one of many women who have had moments of my life that I felt I needed to push down.

Moments I was afraid to voice because it was somehow my fault. Moments that I still don’t talk about. Unfortunately, mine is not a unique story and one women have had to tell for ages. This book is for everyone woman who had tried to move on but felt themselves stagnant. When I write these books, the stories fly out of my brain at a pace that is concerning.

But, when I was writing Rori, I felt so much pressure to make sure I did her justice. I wanted to give her the space to work out her emotions so we could work them out with her. That is a lot easier said then done when writing. You want to make every story relatable.

You want every person who picks it up to be happy. But, sometimes the best stories come from a little pain. I am so grateful that you’re all here with me and I hope you love this book as much as I do.
