Her Ascendant Intern – Anna Voss

Beverley had shown her face turned up and her eyes closed as if in complete contentment, her shoulders back, her arms disappearing behind her, her neck bare apart from the beautiful, perfectly-rendered collar thick about her throat. Even her exposed breast added to the classical vision, the sensation that if Beverley had only drawn her in an ancient robe, she could have stepped onto a plinth beside the nine muses without needing to feel the slightest shame.
“This is… this is beautiful.” Hannah said, and Beverley shook her head, grinning. “It’s you,” she said simply. “I told you. The collar suits you, Kitten. It’s part of who you are.” Hannah hesitated, began to shake her head – and then swallowed. “Thank you,” she said; and let herself sag against the other woman as the tension and fear of the last hour began to seep slowly out of her, to be replaced by a whole new realisation: She’d never be able to look at Beverley the same way again.
Not now Beverley had seen her like that. Not now she’d allowed Beverley to see her so wet. And heard the way it made the confident, beautiful secretary moan. OceanofPDF.com t was almost two weeks later, and Hannah Wilson’s life had changed so much she could hardly understand it; she had almost got used to the way people responded when they saw her collar, almost got used to the jealousy – perhaps even the dismay – of her fellow Interns as they watched her scurry about the Velvet Helix offices, obediently carrying out whatever duty Ms Knight, or Dr Campbell instructed her to obey.

OceanofPDF.com H CHAPTER 1: HELIX annah Wilson shifted uncomfortably on the surprisingly soft chair, painfully conscious of the way every movement seemed to draw the eyes of Ms Knight’s secretary towards her. She drew a deep breath, and forced herself to be still – then she shifted again, trying not to look like she was fidgeting as she tugged her skirt straight and tucked her heels beneath the chair.
“I’m sure it won’t be long,” the secretary said, her teeth gleaming white against the purple lipstick that clung to her darker lips, and Hannah looked over, beaming gratefully. “Thank you,” she breathed – and felt her next enquiry die on her lips. She still couldn’t believe she was here: an intern – even (she suspected) the most academically qualified intern – being invited to meet with Josephine Knight, the CEO of Velvet Helix, was surely unprecedented?
She knew the Knight Initiative was almost the epitome of what Velvet Helix did; half the women on the Board appeared to have passed through the Knight Initiative, or else supported other Board members accepted into the Initiative to their own graduation… but she’d never heard of an Intern being invited to join the initiative. She wished she had a better understanding of exactly what she’d done to make Ms Knight think she deserved such attention. She felt even more out of place than usual, even more like she was only pretending.
But the secretary, at least, was making her feel welcome. Mostly welcome. Hannah just wished she wasn’t looking at her quite so much: she could feel the lurking blush waiting to sweep up and claim her face every time Ms Knight’s secretary leaned over to glance at her around the monitors, and even though Hannah was working on keeping her own gaze neutral as she stared through the glass wall at the lifts across the corridor, she was painfully aware of being looked at.
