Her Little Plaything – Janessa Quinn

That was my first thought as Erin Blackwood kissed me, how impossibly soft a woman’s lips could be. My second thought was that I never wanted it to stop. I’d kissed plenty of men before, including my husband for the past seven years, but nothing had prepared me for this. The gentle pressure of her mouth against mine sent electricity coursing through my body, awakening parts of me I hadn’t known were sleeping.
“You taste divine,” Erin whispered against my lips, her fingers threading through my hair to cradle the back of my head. I felt paralyzed by sensation, like a deer caught in headlights—no, more like a fawn taking its first tentative steps into an unfamiliar world. Erin seemed to sense my hesitation. She pulled back slightly, her green eyes searching mine. “Are you still with me, Kendall?” she asked, her thumb tracing my lower lip. “Yes,” I breathed, surprising myself with how much I meant it. “I’m just… this is all new to me.”
A slow smile spread across her face, predatory yet tender. “I know, sweetheart. Let me guide you.” She leaned in again, this time more deliberately. Her tongue traced the seam of my lips, seeking entrance, and I opened to her without hesitation. The first touch of her tongue against mine made me whimper; an embarrassing, needy sound that I couldn’t hold back.
Erin’s hand slid from my hair down to my neck, her thumb caressing my pulse point as our tongues danced together. She tasted like expensive wine. I felt myself melting under her touch, my body responding in ways it never had with Grant. “You’re trembling,” she murmured, breaking the kiss to trail her lips along my jawline. “I can’t help it,” I admitted, my voice small and breathless. Her laugh was warm against my skin. “Good. I like knowing I affect you this way.”
Her confidence was intoxicating. Where I felt clumsy and uncertain, she was all fluid grace and seduction.

The crystal chandeliers threw light across the room that seemed to illuminate every insecurity I had about being here.
My black cocktail dress had seemed perfect when I bought it, now it felt like a costume; a poor girl’s idea of what rich people wore. “You look beautiful,” Grant whispered, squeezing my hand. Easy for him to say. He belonged here now. Executive position. Corner office. Country club membership pending. I smiled back weakly. “Thanks. I’m just going to get a drink.” I navigated through clusters of people who all seemed to know each other, their laughter rehearsed and perfect. The bartender handed me a glass of champagne, and I took a larger sip than was probably appropriate, feeling the bubbles burn down my throat.
“First time at one of these things?” I turned to find a woman watching me with amused eyes. She was older, maybe early fifties, but stunning in a way that made me suddenly conscious of my own body. Her silver- streaked black hair was pulled back in an elegant updo, exposing a graceful neck adorned with what had to be real diamonds. “Is it that obvious?” I asked, feeling my cheeks flush. “You have that deer-in-headlights look.”
She stepped closer, her perfume subtle but intoxicating. “I’m Erin Blackwood. My husband Richard is the one making that boring speech later.” I nearly choked on my champagne. Richard Blackwood was Grant’s boss, the CEO of the company. “I’m Kendall. Grant Williams’ wife. He just started in the executive program last month.” “Ah, fresh meat.” Her smile was wolfish, and something fluttered in my stomach. “How are you finding all of this?”
She gestured broadly at the room. “Intimidating,” I admitted, surprising myself with my honesty.
