Her Nemesis Until 5pm – Eve Pendle

Trish answered in two rings. “Hey, you mentioned one of the vets in Wildbrook was a prick. Should I go elsewhere with an injured animal?” “You’re in Wildbrook?” “Yep.” “With an animal that needs a vet?” Trish sounded sceptical, which was fair. “Indeed.” “Huh. I happen to have a vet right here on her day off. She is in need of a distraction and can take a look right away. Unless the animal is actively bleeding out, bring it to Moor Café.”
There was the sound of sniffly protest in the background. “We’ll be there in ten.” “Wait, we? Who is—” He hung up, carefully bundled the owl into the blanket and tucked it under his arm. It struggled a little. “Bonus. You get to go to the village—Wildbrook—and meet my sister Trish.” OceanofPDF.com There was only one thing sexier than a tall, handsome, muscled guy: said beautiful man tenderly carrying an injured animal.
The owl held gently but securely under one arm, Luke searched for a box, but came up with nothing. “Do you think you can hold it on your lap in the car,” he asked after several minutes. His grandmother had lived a frugal life. Everything was neat and in its place, nothing spare.
Not even a cardboard box. She bit her lip and looked at the bird bundle. “Maybe?” He tilted his head. “More certainty than that, please. An owl loose in the car would be messy.” “I can do it.” Because if he could catch an owl and hold it like a baby, she could cradle it for the length of one car journey. Outside, he directed her to sit into the car and passed the bird in its blanket onto her lap.
It was lighter than she expected, the massive wings making up most of its size, but hardly any weight. “Put your hand over mine.” His hand was warm, and as they repeated the action on the other side, it hit her that they were working together. Her and her nemesis. And it felt good. He had her back, and she had his. “Hold it firmly but softly, like…” he trailed off as he looked into her face.

Competitive, gorgeous, but off limits, the only thing Emily likes about Luke is the coffee he brings her every morning. Until they’re sent on a job together and snowed in. There’s only one bed, and maybe she doesn’t hate her nemesis as much as she thought. And maybe he’s never hated her at all…
A steamy enemies to lovers office romance with all the feels and British banter. OceanofPDF.com CHAPTER ONE First day of her new job, in a new city. That required caffeine, a positive attitude, and a lucky dress. Emily had two of those, but she’d only moved into her flat yesterday and the coffee had been nowhere to be seen. She wanted to be at work early, when her new boss had said her hugely talented colleague would be in, so hadn’t had time to pick up a caffeine fix.
No pressure. Outside the office she took a deep breath. She would show her new colleagues she was great to work with, make her parents proud, and build a new life outside of London. The lights were on and she peeked into the estate agency just past seven thirty in the morning. Behind a computer monitor sat a gorgeous man with a sulky mouth sipping from a grey travel cup.
Her colleague and rival. Pauline had said Luke Weston was unconventional and sharp enough to cut yourself on. She was going to charm his pants off. “Hi! I’m Emily Tumbler, the new sales negotiator,” she said in her trademark chirpy tone as she walked into the office.
