There was no resisting his pull. Brandon wanted him. He yearned to unravel him, to douse him in the same intense pleasure he’d received. Too soon, Pax withdrew from the kiss, Brandon chasing him as he pulled away. This couldn’t end now, not before he’d… He needn’t have worried. Looking deep into his eyes, lips red from their kiss, Pax straddled him. “Fuck me.” These words, spoken so softly, were almost enough to undo him.

Heat boiled under his skin. Visions of him nailing Pax into the mattress filled his mind. “Take me to bed,” Pax said, sliding off his lap. Brandon let himself be pulled up by his hand, gaze falling to his pallet. Part of him wanted to take Pax there, but it wasn’t right, not when Pax would leave when whatever this was between them was finished.

Brandon couldn’t take someone to his bed for just one night. It was too intimate for a momentary arrangement. He’d get hurt when Pax left later. He knew that because he’d been left before. His wife’s death had hung over him for such a long time, then, his children had departed Winterbourne, and now, he was alone. No, he couldn’t bring Pax into his most private space. But if Pax wanted to be taken, the bed wasn’t the only option.

Brandon led him to the table in the corner, a square, sturdy thing he’d carpentered himself. He lifted Pax and deposited him on top of it. He placed a fingertip on the base of Pax’s cock, making him twitch and moan. Brandon trailed his finger upward, earning a string of high-pitched noises. Adding more fingers, he traced up and down Pax’s length, idly stroking him. “Would you be offended if I told you you were cute?” Brandon asked, the meaning of his words clear with his gaze on Pax’s erection.

“No.” Breathless.
