How To Write A Grant Become A Grant Writing Unicorn – Meredith Noble

I call this process the Fearless 45, and it is how I raised an additional $1.5 million as a nonprofit Executive Director with no additional human capacity. Every morning, I would wake up and look at my to-do list and find the things on it that were two to 15 minutes long and scary. Think meeting invites for donors, following up on a proposal, etc. I would then tackle the “scaries” in the first 45 minutes of the day.
For less than an hour, I would be fearless. I would push through and get them done. What happened next? I spent the rest of the day with powerful, and mobilizing, anabolic energy. I was more creative, effective, and inspired. I was happier. I started to love my job in a new way. And I brought in way more money! $1.5 million more to be exact.
I created more capacity within myself. I encourage you to try the Fearless 45 in your day. Make it routine. Try it for five days straight and see what happens. You will love the fearless leader you unlock by doing so! —Mallory Erickson, Founder Power Partner Formula Fundraising Versus Grant Writing To be clear, fundraising and grant writing are different beasts.
It is worth flirting with fundraising, however, because it often can serve as one of your best resources for match. We are eight chapters deep so I assume we are on the same page about grants, but to be crystal clear, a grant is “a financial donation given to support a person, organization, project, or program.”
Fundraising, on the other hand, is the process of soliciting financial support for a charitable cause. Central to the idea of fundraising is the collection of cash donations. Donations can be collected immediately or over a period of months or years, as is the case for long-term pledges for capital campaigns or endowments.
