Hex On The Rocks – Milly Taiden

Four hours of driving each way. A restaurant designed to impress the most discerning supernatural elite. A woman who’d thrown a spoon at him during their second conversation and had called him an insufferable know-it-all. This was either a brilliant strategy or spectacular self-sabotage. His lion didn’t seem concerned which. HE FOUND her in the inn’s garden courtyard. Junie was perched on the stone wall surrounding Avine’s herb beds, bare feet dangling, a cup of coffee cradled between her palms.
Glimmer was coiled around her shoulders, scales catching the early light in ripples of purple and green. She looked soft in a way she rarely allowed herself to appear—unguarded, lost in thought, the sharp edges of her wit temporarily sheathed. The animal inside him went very still. Watching. Wanting. Leo cleared his throat. Junie startled, nearly dropping her coffee. Glimmer’s head whipped around, tongue tasting the air, scales shifting color.
“Castellan.” Junie recovered quickly, mask sliding back into place. “Lurking in gardens now? That’s very gothic villain of you.” He approached the wall, keeping a distance between them. Professional distance. The sort that was supposed to prevent him from noticing her. “I have a proposition.” Her eyebrow arched. “That’s a dangerous word choice.” “Dinner. Saturday evening.” He kept his voice steady. As if this were any other business arrangement. “There’s a restaurant I think you’d find interesting. Four hours from here, but worth the drive.”
Junie’s cup paused halfway to her lips. Her eyes narrowed—that suspicious squint that meant she was searching for the angle. “This isn’t an investigation thing?” “It’s a dinner thing.” “A date thing?” Date. Such a simple term for an act that felt like stepping off a cliff without checking for a parachute first. “If you’re amenable.” Her lips twitched. The corner of her mouth curving upward in that way that made his lion rumble with satisfaction.
“God, you talk like a contract sometimes.” “I will take that as a compliment.”

Junie Reed has chaos magic, a potion shop, and walls high enough to keep out anyone who might get too close. She’s fine. Everything’s fine. Then her spells start misfiring, a mysterious magical surge threatens her livelihood, and a lion shifter in a designer suit strolls into town like he owns the place.
She doesn’t need some arrogant Alpha poking around her shop. But between that jaw, those hands, and the way he looks at her like she’s a puzzle he wants to solve? Her magic isn’t the only thing misfiring. Leo Castellan deals in logic, discipline, and control. He’s in Haven Shores to investigate magical instability, not to find a mate. He doesn’t believe in fate. Then a red-haired chaos witch destroys his suit, gets under his skin, and makes his lion rumble with interest instead of irritation. This was supposed to be a simple business trip.
When a shadowy organization targets Junie’s shop—and steals her grandmother’s irreplaceable recipe book—she’s forced to work with the one man who sees straight through her defenses. But late nights and close quarters have a way of turning sparks into flames. And the heat between them? It might just be more dangerous than whatever’s lurking in the shadows.
Welcome back to Haven Shores, where the potions are unpredictable, the Alphas are possessive, and falling for your opposite has never been this delicious. OceanofPDF.com —For readers who love a good laugh, Enjoy. OceanofPDF.com H ONE LEO aven Shores smelled like salt and secrets. Leo Castellan stood at the edge of the coastal highway, his rental car idling behind him, and cataloged every detail with the same precision he brought to hostile acquisitions.
Quaint Victorian storefronts painted in pastel colors. A harbor dotted with fishing boats rocking gently against their moorings. Streets that curved along the cliffs like they had somewhere better to be. The kind of place that ended up on postcards and in the dreams of people who wanted to escape their lives. Not his kind of place. The predator beneath his skin stirred, restless after six hours confined in the car.
