Gather Together – Robyn Chubey

Fruits, such as oranges, limes, lemons, and grapefruit give the summer-inspired tablescape a unique touch while adding to the playfulness of this season. You can place the fruits, either whole or sliced in half, over faux eucalyptus vines, which I’ve been using in my seasonal decor for many years, for visual interest. Citrus offers a beautiful spread that is also edible, compostable, economical, and sustainable.
You can also use faux fruits, being mindful that you won’t be able to cut them in half. There’s so much you can do with fruits this season to add some wonderful touches of color or decor and create a beautiful floral arrangement for your centerpiece. These fruits also fill the space with a delightful citrus aroma. Summer-Kissed Floral Arrangement Follow this quick guide to craft a stunning centerpiece that radiates charm and freshness. 1. Prepare the citrus stems: Cut limes and lemons in half through the middles.
Insert wooden skewers into the bottoms of the halved fruits to serve as stems. 2. Arrange the citrus pieces in the center of your floral bouquet. These vibrant fruits will act as the focal points of your overall look. 3. Surround the citrus with delicate Queen Anne’s lace to create texture and a soft, airy feel. 4. Add sunny, colorful zinnias to the arrangement for a pop of brightness and a cheerful touch.
5. Adjust the placement of all elements to ensure balance and harmony. Tablecloth To really make your scene stand out, you want to pick a tablecloth that helps you pop out the vibrant summer colors on your table. A pinstriped tablecloth lays a neutral base for my citrus-themed centerpiece and allows the fruits to take center stage. Here are more of my recommendations for tablecloths to use: Solid tablecloth: A white, tan, or neutral linen, soft green, soft orange, or light-yellow solid option, would all work well with the sunny citrus theme.
Patterned tablecloth: A citrus-colored pinstripe or a dainty citrus pattern (like little lemons or oranges on a solid background) along with a citrus or black-and-white dotted pattern would be a great fit in this theme. With the right tablecloth, your summer tablescape can go from simple to stunning. Whether you choose a solid hue or a playful pattern, let it complement the vibrant elements on your table and add the perfect touch.
Place Settings Place settings are essential for setting the tone at a summer BBQ, adding both style and cohesion to your table while ensuring guests feel warmly welcomed.

I remember truly enjoying this responsibility, even as a young girl. My parents were both great cooks, and we always had a variety of meal nights—Italian, Chinese, Mexican, homemade pizza night, casseroles, soups, and all the best staples from my dad’s youth, like fried chicken and biscuits, pierogies with fried bacon, and sauerkraut.
